Discord is a great place to chat with friends and play games, but it can be hard to keep track of everything that's going on. You might miss important announcements or join a server only to find out you're not as welcome there as you thought.

Hydra Bot is a bot for Discord that allows you to add useful features to your server.

It can be used for various purposes, from adding commands to your server to creating custom roles and permissions and even creating an automated promotion system.

The Hydra Bot is easy to install and use—it can be added to any Discord server with just a few clicks. Once installed, you can easily configure the bot by going into its settings menu and adding custom commands, roles, or permissions.

In this article, I'll walk you through the step-by-step process of setting up the Hydra Bot on your server and configuring it to fit your needs.

What is Hydra bot?

Hydra is a bot for Discord that lets you access a ton of useful features in one place. You can set up custom commands to make your Discord server more efficient and fun, or add bots that specialize in certain tasks.

Hydra offers many different ways to interact with the bot, including web-based versions and mobile apps

It's also open-source and free—so if you're looking for a way to give your Discord community some extra power, Hydra might be just what you need!

How to set up the Hydra bot to Discord

The Hydra bot is an amazing tool for Discord users, but it can be tricky to set up. If you're new to the Hydra bot and are having trouble getting it set up, here's a quick guide on how to add and use the Hydra bot to Discord:

Step 1: Go to Hydra bot website

The first step you want to do is head over to the Hydra website and click on the "Invite" button. This will open up a new tab with a link for setting up the bot and further instructions. Follow these instructions carefully to set up the bot.

Step 2: Do the Hydra bot invite

The next step is to invite the Hydra bot to a Discord server of your choosing. To do this, simply click on the "Invite" button and send the bot an invite to your server.

The invitation should pop up immediately after sending it out, so make sure you're connected to Discord at all times during this process.

Step 3: Give permission and authorize Hydra

Authorizing and giving permission to the bot is the next step in the process. When you first send the bot an invite, it will appear on the server as a pending member

In order to accept this invitation and make it a full member of your Discord server, click on its name and then check all the boxes you want to incorporate into your server.

This will make it so that anyone with access to your Discord server can see or talk to the bot when they enter it.

Step 4: Required Captcha

The next step is quite easy. Simply pass all the required Captcha rules and you will be able to proceed further

This is a universal rule, so you should always make sure that all the Captcha rules are fulfilled before going ahead with any action on your Discord server.

Step 5: Web dashboard

After completing the invitation of the bot to your server, you'll be redirected to Hydra bot's web dashboard. Here, you can find all the features that you need to use your Discord bot. You can also configure and customize your Discord bot from here

Web dashboard

It's important that you know how to use this dashboard so that it becomes easier for you to manage the various aspects of your server.

Step 6: Hydra bot message testing

To check if Hydra bot is fully implemented into your Discord server, check for the initial test message that the bot will send to your general channel

This is the first message that will be sent after you finish configuring your Discord bot. It's important that you check it to make sure that everything works properly.

Step 7: Set up Hydra bot role

Now let's go through setting up the roles and settings of the bot to your server.

Go to server settings, where you can adjust and configure the roles and permissions of features on your server. Look for Hydra bot and click on the bot's name to start adding roles.

Step 8: Add Hydra bot role

Go to 'Roles' and click 'Create New Role'. You will then see a 'new role' added under the Hydra bot name. This is where you can edit the name and the role of the bot.

Step 9: Set up the name and display the role of the Hydra bot on Discord

Change the name of the 'new role' into 'bot' and click on 'Save Changes'.

Then, click on the link that says 'Display this role's name in server-wide announcements?' and set it to 'Yes'. This will make Discord notify everyone on your Discord server when the bot makes a change.

Step 10: Assign bot role to Hydra

Once you're done, go to 'Manage Members' and add the bot and complete the setup.

Functions of the Hydra bot on Discord

The Hydra bot can be used to perform a number of tasks on your Discord server. It has many features, and it's worth looking through them all if you're interested in how they work. Here are some of the most useful functions that Hydra supports:

General functions

Hydra contains four stages. When you first open the dashboard, you will see Hydra and Hydra 2. You can unlock Hydra 3 by purchasing a premium license but let's focus on the first one—Hydra. Let's start with general settings and features.

You can set the bot to auto-join channels, which is useful if you want it to start working right away without any further configuration.

The same goes for changing the prefix and suffix of your Discord server—this can be done by going into "general settings" and selecting your preferences.

The functions below are as follows:

  • Prefix - This is used to issue commands to the bot. By default, the Hydra prefix is ".".
  • Language - This sets the language that you want to communicate with the bot in.
  • DJ Roles - You can give the DJ role to certain members. By doing this, those people will have access to admin commands in chat and be able to use them.
  • Voice channels - By default, Hydra will only play music on the selected voice channel.

Reaction functions

Reaction roles are a way to give users roles by having them react to a message with an emoji.

Reaction roles can be useful for giving people tasks that they may not necessarily need direct permission, but still want to be done (like liking or commenting on something).

They're also handy when you don't want the hassle of manually assigning permissions because it's easier just using reactions instead!

Reaction roles have the following functions:

  • Configuration - This will be shown above the reaction role input panel.
  • Channel - Hydra will put the Reaction Roles panel in this channel.
  • Type - The type of reaction role you want for your server if any. The most common setup is Normal (no restrictions).
  • Normal - Users can choose their roles, or stop being in a role at all.
  • Only Add - Only the user who is adding a role can choose to add or remove that role from their profile.
  • Only Remove - Users can only remove roles from themselves; no one else can do it on their behalf.
  • Unique - Only one role is assigned to each user at a given time.
  • Binding - Users can only add a role to themselves once, and then that role is available for every other user with higher permissions than them.
  • Options - To add options to the reaction role panel, you will edit this section.

To create a reaction role, follow the following steps:

  • Go to your Web Dashboard and click on Reaction Roles.
  • For this Setup, we've set the Configuration to "Get your role here," activated it on channel #general, and chose Normal for type.
  • We can add new role types. Clicking on "Add options" will take you to the screen where you can create a new type.
  • You can change the emoji that appears next to your button's name in its option configuration.
  • Additionally, you can choose the color of the button that is used by default. You can even add an emoji to a certain option or even disable it entirely.
  • Next, you’ll need to add an action to the option that you just created. Click on Add Action
  • After clicking Add Action, you will be prompted to choose among these options. Select Add a Role and click Continue.
  • Next, you'll be redirected back here. Click the drop-down menu on "My roles" and look for the role that you want to add (in this case, Verified). Then click "Confirm".
  • After we confirm, we should see a preview of the changes that will be made.
  • Click on "Save"—it will automatically be added to the general channel. We can test it out by clicking on our new role’s name in this list; if successful, we should get a message asking us whether or not we'd like that role applied to ourselves.
